Basketball - Mens Varsity
The Archbishop Hannan Boys Basketball Program is building a tradition of excellence. Fundamentals, hard work and character are the building blocks for the program’s success. We welcome young men committed to improving themselves both as players and as people and who understand that the team is greater than the individual. Players will be challenged in a way that not only builds their skills but also their self-esteem, communication skills and relationship with Christ. Archbishop Hannan High School competes in both boys and girls divisions in the LHSAA. All teams are gearing up for an exciting season on the court.
The program has recently added a 9th grade team, giving players at Hannan the opportunity to compete at four levels (8th, 9th, JV, & Varsity). On the 8th & 9th grade teams, players will learn the basic fundamental skills that will serve as the building blocks at the higher levels. The junior high program will play a full schedule of tournaments and games against teams from all around the New Orleans area. At the JV and varsity levels, we build on this growth and put ourselves in a position to be successful for an extended period of time.
While in season, we practice five or six times per week. Practice lasts approximately two hours after school and Saturday mornings. During this time, we incorporate individual skill development, team organization, and weights and conditioning. During the off season, we continue weights and conditioning for most of the year. We also participate in a summer program that furthers skill development and game experience.
