Swimming

Overview

The Archbishop Hannan Swim Team is unique, in that it is one of the few on which boys and girls compete together. Practice is held Monday through Thursday during the fall and meets are held weekly. Competitive swimming at Hannan is challenging and demanding, but at the same time a lot of fun. Team tryouts for both boys and girls begin in early August.

Meets against other schools run from September through November. Last year, we had 4 swimmers place at the Division 3 State Championship. We are a team that expects all participants to make all practices, work to the best of their ability and demonstrate a willingness to compete in any of the eight individual events and three relays that are offered on the high school program. By developing this all around versatility, we will have swimmers who will have a complete knowledge and mastery of all four competitive strokes and distances, and can contribute to the team’s success in any event on the program.

Our performance goals are to initially qualify as many swimmers as possible into the state championship meet. Once qualified, we will set scoring goals for each swimmer’s events and their relays.
