New Students - English Summer Assignments

New students Students entering Hannan in the fall of 2023 for the first time will read the book Make Your Bed by William H. McRaven.

 

Students should purchase their own copy of the book and bring it to school on Friday, August 25th. Electronic books are not acceptable. On Friday August 25th, students will meet in preassigned groups to participate in a collaborative activity involving the book. The activity will help students make connections to the lessons from the book and show their knowledge and understanding of the text.

 

Participation in the activity will count toward half of a 100 point test grade in their English/Literature classes. The other half of that grade will be a reflection students will write during their current English/Literature classes after the discussion takes place.

 

Students who are absent will need to meet individually with Mrs. Foster and discuss the book one on one at an appointed time. Any questions should be directed to English Department Chair Elizabeth Foster (efoster@hannanhigh.org).
