Required Summer Reading for 2019-2020 School Year

Please read the book listed for the English class that you will be entering in the 2019-2020 school year.  Please note that students concurrently enrolled in English IV and V will be expected to read both novels.  For any book for which there is a film, students may view the movie after reading the book.  It is the text version that will be assessed. There is no summer reading for Creative Writing.

*How to Read Literature Like a Professor will be discussed throughout the school year.  It is recommended that English IV AP students read this during the summer.

Assignment Description

1.  Students must download the response template located to the right of their book selection.  Students should download this template prior to reading the book in order to complete as they read.  

2.  Students must type all their answers directly on the response template.  The answer spaces on the template will expand as they type.  Each complete response template will count as a quiz grade.

3.  Students should keep their English templates saved to a device throughout the summer.  Submitting the template will be the first activity that the students must do through Canvas, which will filter the document through TurnItIn.
