2023 National Blue Ribbon School

Dear Members of the Hawk Nation:

Today it was announced by the US Department of Education that Archbishop Hannan High School has been named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2023.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools (NBRS) Program is one of the U.S. Department of Education’s longest-running recognition programs. Each year, deserving schools are recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence.

The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.

Through a rigorous review process, the U.S. Department of Education awards several hundred outstanding schools annually to celebrate their achievement.  This prestigious award serves not only as a symbol of exemplary American  schools, but also as inspiration for schools across the nation.

As an example of how special this award is – last year only 24 private schools (from the entire US) achieved National Blue Ribbon status.

National Blue Ribbon School leaders not only articulate a vision of excellence and hold everyone to high standards but also stay close to the real action of teaching and learning. Faculty are valued and supported through meaningful professional learning and opportunities to work as colleagues and peer supporters. Data from many sources drive instruction, and student support services ensure every student is set up to succeed. Families, communities, and educators work together toward common goals.

Congratulations to the entire Hawk Nation! It’s a Great Day to be a Hannan Hawk!
