Freshman middle Allee Morris led a dominant Hannan performance as the second-seeded Hawks earned a 25-14, 25-18, 25-17 win over No. 7 Episcopal in the Division IV quarterfinals of the LHSAA State Volleyball Tournament at the Pontchartrain Center.
"We were a little shaky in the second set, but we fought through it," said Morris, who finished with six blocks and seven kills. "We got our confidence back and controlled what we needed to. This feels amazing. We all feel one step closer to the top, and I think we can do it."
The Hawks will play No. 3 Notre Dame in the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Friday. The Pioneers swept Riverside to advance.
Hannan coach Rebekka Bonnaffee said her team's experience from last season was huge.
"I think we started off strong which is huge for us," she said. "Just the fact that we've been here before. Last year we came, and even though we lost in the quarterfinal round, the kids saw what it was all about. That was huge."
Sophomore Hailey Cabecceiras led Hannan with 18 kills, and freshman Mikayla Boyer had 14 digs. Tatum Ballard had 29 assists, and Danielle Loup added 11 digs. Sydney Williams had three blocks.
For Episcopal (27-11), Courtney Gregoire had 19 digs, eight kills and two blocks. Ali Mitchell added 13 digs and seven kills. Caroline Counts had nine assists.
