Admissions Process

The Archbishop Hannan student wants to make a difference and is forever striving toward academic excellence, spiritual formation and new challenges. Thus, when reviewing applications we rely on several different factors in making a decision, including elementary school grades, standardized test scores, and a personal interview.

Students Attending a Catholic Elementary School

  1. Monday, November 10, 2014: Your child will receive the Archdiocesan Application Form from their school principal on this date (You may also click here for a downloadable version). Students and parents should complete the application form over the next two days.
  2. Wednesday, November 12, 2014: Return the completed application to your child's school principal on this date. Do not worry about documentation. The elementary school will send us your child's school records, transcripts, and standardized test results.
  3. December, 2014: Completed Archbishop Hannan High School Applications are due. Click here to be directed to the online application.
  4. Saturday, January 10, 2015: All students applying to Archbishop Hannan High School must attend Application Day beginning at 8:00 A.M.  During the couse of the day, your child will take the High School Placement Exam.  The results of the exam assist us in placing your child in the appropriate courses.  Students will be required to pay a $20 application fee at the time of the exam and are asked to submit a small student photo.
  5. January 20, 21, 22, 2015: Prospective student interviews scheduled between 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. in 15 minute time slots.  Because we believe education relies on collaboration between the school and the family, we ask that at least one parent/guardian attend the interview.  Please call to schedule a time.
  6. Thursday, February 26, 2015: Archbishop Hannan High School will send out  letters of decision to students and parents.

Transfer Applicants

Please click here for more information on Archbishop Hannan’s transfer policy.

Wait List

Students who meet the basic requirements for acceptance but were not accepted on the first round of admissions are placed on the “Wait List”. After the current student registration deadline, we know which students are planning to attend and which have decided on other schools. If spaces are available, students are selected from the Wait List by the Admissions Committee. Students on the Wait List are not assigned a numerical priority since the committee’s choices are partially based on the make-up of the class at the time openings occur. Usually, spaces are available just after the registration deadline and more occur over the summer as families move or other decisions are made known to the school.

Home School Applicants

Applicants that are currently home schooled must follow the same process described above for Applicants Not Attending a Catholic School.  In order to ensure a fair evaluation process, home school applicants must include in their admission application results from a school-approved, nationally normed (within the last three years), standardized test. The test must have been administered within the last three months of their application date. If needed, Archbishop Hannan High School will schedule a date for the applicant to take the Terra Nova test (the applicant is responsible for all testing/scoring charges).

Hannan Voices

"My daughter, Camille, loves AHHS! As a new student, she is already getting involved in activities and says that Hannan feels like home to her. Her teachers have completely helped her transition into high school and as a parent I am very impressed with the amount of communication we have with the school."
